St John's was opened March 1882 as the Mission Room, North Perth, for St George's Cathedral and was used for Sunday evening services, Bible classes, etc. In 1889 St John's became a separate parish. The last service was conducted in 1928. Church of England services were held in Western Australia from the colony's inception in 1829.
